in black and white
the smiles of men
who made it home

Further to my recent Somme postings (see here) , I have finally got around to posting this photo of a group of men (including my Grandad) pictured at a military hospital in Sheffield, England. The photo was taken in December 1916, with the men having been wounded in World War One battles and then being shipped home.

The back of the photo has the signatures of most of the men on the photo (with the exceptions of the first two men, from left in the back row) though it is difficult to read in places. I am posting it here in the hope that any relatives searching for information about their forebears in World War One come across it.
